From The Mountains Too The Sea

June Long Weekend, well we thought we would be up in QLD for the Long Weekend but still waiting for the Sunliner to be fixed

We did make the most of the lovely weather though, Brian bought a new camera to replace the one that was stolen, so Chris took us up to Lawson in the Blue Mountains on Sunday to give it a go, there are quite a few different waterfalls on the track we walked along one of them been Cataract Falls. (These are the photos i took Brian will post his later)

The walk is about 2 hours normally but with all the stops for photography we doubled that lol but well worth it great day out.

Chris taking some shots of the waterfall, he does an amazing job so was good to have him come along and give Brian some tips

We saw lots of different fungi some stunning colours, and the colours in the leaves just glorious this time of year.

Chris also spotted this tiny birds nest in the tree

Monday Brian and I decided to do the Clovelly to Bondi Coastal walk its a great walk very popular especial when its a very pleasant 19 degs. We walked to Bondi had fish & chips then walked back a good 10km walk

This is the start of the walk at Clovelly gorgeous little beach

We are about halfway round in this shot, we spotted some whales but just the spray from their blow holes as they were quite far out, love whalesmakes my day i always look out for them hoping one will pop up and put on a show

I could smell our Fish & Chips by the time i got to here, Bondi is a very popular place for locals and visitors but we managed to get a table and devoured our late lunch, we hung around for an hour or so before heading back to Clovelly to the car.

Hopefully my next Blog will be good news and we will have the Sunliner back !!! Fingers Crossed hope you all had a lovely long weekend

Day trip to Davistown

Well some GOOD NEWS, we have finally got the Sunliner into the repairer at Smithfield, near Parramatta they are working on it as we speak so hopefully not long now before we are back on the road and can continue with our Trip Around Australia.

We decided to pay our daughter Ayshea and her partner Phil and Isabel a visit on Sunday as it was a lovely sunny day, we got up early and Chris drove us to the station as we decided to travel by train for a change up to Gosford. I have not done this trip before by train and was pleasantly surprised how quickly the journey passed and how beautiful the countryside was.

Chris didn’t come with us as he was coming down with a cold and was not well at all.

Ayshea picked us up at the station, it is always lovely to see her, she drove us out to have a look at the block of land her and Phil have just purchased she is very excited about the future and they are looking forward to building their first home together.

We then went to her unit and met up with Phil and Isabel, we decided to take the ferry to Davistown and have lunch at the RSL Club

On the ferry across we saw heaps of the local Pelicans both in the water and out, Isabel and i had a competion who could spot the most, she is full on never stops love her to bits.

The ferry ride across is lovely you get to see a lot of lovely homes, both old and new. We then hoped on a bus to the RSL for lunch it was very busy so Brian and Isabel were running around in the park like crazy people and had lots of fun while waiting for our meal to be cooked. Isabel was on the slide and bouncy castle having heaps of fun.

Ayshea Foster with her dad Brian Foster on the ferry to Davistown

We all enjoyed our meal and had a good catch up, it is great to see how happy Ayshea Phil and Isabel are such a lovely little family.  Brian and i are very happy for them, as parents we are very proud, it always lifts my spirits when we have a visit to see them or they come and see us it gives me my fix for a while lol Love both my kids very much

The sky was beautiful on the ferry ride back what a lovely day we all had i think we all slept well on Sunday night i know i did.

Vivid Light Show Sydney NSW 28th May 2017

It is great when something good comes out of some thing not so good, we are still in Sydney waiting to get a new door made for the Sunliner but that gave us the opertunity to go into the City too see Vivid, the City just comes alive with the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, the boats on the Harbour and Lots of the buildings been lite up creating a wonderful display of amazing colour and lights. We walked around on a very mild night taking in all the sounds and sights, we had a great time.

I hope you like some of the photos i took

I got treated to a lovely meal at my favourite seafood restaurant “Nicks” just love that place, Lobster & my favourite white wine

Thanks Brian for making Sunday very special, it is great spending this time with you and re finding our selves, I think i can get used to this retirement thing lol

I know we are both itching to get back on the road in the Sunliner and continue our Trip Around Australia hopefully not long now !!!!!!

Brian Foster & Dawn Foster Darling Harbour

Still in Limbo

It has been a week now since we arrived back in Sydney, it is a very frustrating time trying to sort out stuff, we have still had no luck finding a new door for the Sunliner Brian says they are as rare has rocking horse shit !!!

It has been a good week for all our personal cards arriving also bought a new purse and handbag to replace the stolen ones

We are still at Chris’s house so have been earning our keep, as you can see i put Brian to work on cleaning the pool, he did a great job I might add,  I got my self busy in the garden as the weather all week has been just great.

We have also done a few walks along the Nepean River it is so full of amazing colours this time of year, and listening to the Bellbirds echoing through the trees, such a distinctive sound.

Doing the walk is an easy way to get in the 10,000 steps that i set my self each day, and see the beauty of what is on your doorstep, something we all take for granted some times.

It will be great to get back to our trip but at this stage it is not clear when, it makes me so mad to think that it has all come to a grinding halt because of some low life wanting an easy fix,  We are very pleased to have the base here with Chris and also catch up with a few friends again but just want to continue with what we only just started,

Our Road Trip Around Australia in Our Sunliner.

Stay Tuned Dawn & Brian

Back in Sydney

We arrived in Melbourne around 5.30am on Thursday morning 18th May we managed to have quite a good nights sleep, could have been something to do with the wine we drank, we were about the 4th off the Spitit of Tasmania and managed to find our way out of Melbourne very easily with our 50cent map worth every penny.

We watched the sun come up as we headed towards SydneyIt was a long drive we stopped a couple of times to stretch our legs and have a bite to eat, we even climbed into the back of the Sunliner and had 90 mins shut eye, that’s the great thing about th motor home you just stop and rest up when you need to recharge the batteries.

We arrived at Chris’s house around 6pm it was great to see him and give him a big hug, he had dinner waiting for us which was great, we sat down and had a glass of win an caught up on what had happened over the last 3 weeks.

Brian and i had an early night after a very long drive we were exhausted

Friday we spent doing all kinds off stuff, I started at the doctor, i had to get new prescriptions for the medication that went missing when my bag was stolen, next stop was the RTA to get a new drivers licence then Specsavers to order new glasses, we spent the whole day trying to replace all the stolen items, the low life scum have no idea how inconvenient they have made thinks for us but you just do what you have to do.

Saturday it was great to see Ayshea our daughter, we had a lovely family day together and just reassured each other that we were ok just a bit of a set back with the van but hope to be soon back on our journey. We sat outside and shelled a bag of almonds that I brought back from Tassie, i think more were eaten than but bin the container!!!!!

Today Sunday we went up to Springwood in the Blue Mountains had a wonder around the book shops, it was a glorious Autum day, Brian and i then did the river walk which is about 7kms so got our 10,000 steps in easily today. It was lovely to see all the autum colour, the river was busy on such a fabulous sunny day we saw one of Chris friends kayaking with her friend so took a shot of them
When we arrived back at Chris’s place he was flat out doing errr nothing lolII love the native cockatoo that come and sit in Chris’s tree, they are Very noisey but a great bird to just sit and watch, nice way to finish the day

Goodbye Tasmania

Well today was our last day in Tasmania 17th May it has been an eventful couple of weeks that’s for sure.

We are now onboard the Sprit of Tasmania heading to Melbourne, Brian and I had a nice dinner then headed back to our cabin for dessert nice bottle of wine, chocolate covered raspberries for me, fresh raspberries for Brian

We stopped off a couple of times on the drive up to Launceston to break up the journey, we saw these two fishing on the beach didn’t look like they were having much luck but hay what a beautiful place too be on a Wednesday morning

It was a nice breezy morning on the beach, we walked for a while before heading off again blew the cobwebs away

Charlie & Me time to say Goodbye

16th May

It was time to say goodbye to my Brother Charlie today, we had a good couple of weeks catching up and reminiscing,

Charlie was very sick about four years ago he had bowel cancer and we nearly lost him, it was hit and miss for a while but after a long 5 hour operation he made it through, He ended up staying with Brian and I for about 6 months, through all the radiation and chemotherapy treatment , it wasn’t easy for any of us, but family stick together.

Seeing him look so well this visit really lifted my spirit, watching him work in the garden planting endless gloves of garlic made me smile, he has so many different things growing I was picking and shelling Almonds never tasted so good, we made at least three apple crumbles and apple pies in two weeks lol Brian had the grapefruit and Pears,

Sitting around the fire out side most night, I became accustomed to the smell of smoke on all my clothes, we chatted about all sorts of stuff, from when we were kids to the plans for our futures.

Driving away today I wasn’t sad, just the opposite, Charlie lives his own life always has always will, but it was good to share some quality time together hope we catch up soon brother of mine, love you xxx

Mothers Day Dover Tasmania

Well Mothers Day this year was a little different spent in Dover Tasmania with Brian my hubby, we went out for a drive over to Dover another beautiful part of Tassie, we had a stroll on the beach, almost had it to ourselves the sun was out after a couple of very cold days, so we made the most of  itWe had lunch over at the local RSL Club which was lovely, the staff and locals were all very friendly which was great, I was given chocolate from the young girl who served our lunch, it was definitely all about making mums feel special

I also captured the rainbow shooting out of the howitzer (field gun) out the front of the RSL Dover
As I was eating my lunch and looked out of the window there was this beautiful rainbow across the bay just for me !!!

After our fish and chip lunch we went for another walk, as we did also have a big dessert and needed to walk it off, Brian was running around chasing the seagulls ( too much sugar I think)
We saw a guy that reminded me of Wurzel Gumage collecting seaweed for his garden, Brian had a chat to him, he washes it of then dries it out and then puts it on his garden, he was a lovely old chap
We had a lovely day, I wish to thank Brian as he knew I was missing the kids on Mother’s Day but made it very special
Thank You Love You xxxx

We only have a couple of days left in Tassi before heading back to the mainland so we will be making the most of them, who can resist theses gorgeous beaches

Party Time @ Charlie’s

Charlie decided to have a veranda party last night, He has been working on it all week with a little help from Brian, they did a pretty good job I think. We had a very wet day yesterday but that did not dampen the spirits of the guys that came round.I made a lovely meal in the slow cooker which went down a treat on the cold night, I picked apples from the tree and made two apple pies, no one went hungry, these are a couple of pictures of me and my brother Charlie and one of his mates Simon we managed to keep nice and warm around the fire, although I am over my clothes smelling of smoke yuk !!

One of the guys Govner even brought some fireworks which didn’t go down well with the neighbours but it was fun for a while !!

He has lots of interesting potted plants around the plants some of which he sells.

It sure has been a different kind of a week for Brian and I and I think Charlie’s been glad of a bit of company, it can be very lonely on your own, but there again he does sometimes prefer his own company, he does lots of reading I don’t think I have ever seen so many books in one persons home. These are a few he picked up the other day lol.  He also has lots of unique things in his home some freak me out a bit but hay that’s Charlie wouldn’t have him any other way.
